stage
with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Michael Jones, Tom Rush, Babatunde Olatunji
and Livingston Taylor, among others. Shawna is available as a solo
performer and with her husband, singer/
songwriter Tom Cobb.
Shawna
leads live ritual performances of Goddess Chant, a choral liturgy
of sacred seed chants she recorded on the LadySlipper label. Since
its premiere in 1998, Goddess Chant has been performed in New
York City; Rochester, New York; at the Omega Institute in San Antonio,
Texas; at the Arlington Street Church is Boston, one of the country's
oldest cathedrals; at the Women of Wisdom Festival in Washington state;
and at the Goddess Conference in Glastonbury, England. A
Goddess Chant Choir Kit is available from The Way of Song Center.
In
addition, Shawna serves as the Song Weaver at major conferences and
retreats. Some of the conferences where she served as the Song
Weaver include Body and Soul Conferences, the Brettonwoods Conference on
Learning, and the Women of Wisdom Festival.
Shawna also is available, schedule permitting,
to lead a free Community Sing, followed by a book signing, at stores
that carry her new book, The Way of Song: A Guide for Freeing the
Voice and Sounding the Spirit.
“All
who hear [Shawna] cannot help but be moved by her gift.”
